The track had dried considerably, but was still slow. Ideal weather prevailed and this assisted in bringing out a banner ! Monday crowd. The Palm Garden action was lively, with favorites figuring as the winners in most of. the races and causing the price quoters to sustain u big loss. The principal upset for the public came with Aunt Josies defeat in the second race. She was beaten easily by Joddling. After the finish F. J. Pons claimed the Schorr ally for $.soo. Col. Ashineade was sold to E. Cook by J. Johnston and the horse ran in the interest of his new owner this afternoon. Business Agent has been returned to A. B. Cordon, his former owner, for the price at which Emit Ban secured him out of Saturdays last race. , J. I.. 1aul has sold Armor to J. II. Singleton. Jockey Butwell has changed his mind about retiring from the saddle for the winter and will resume riding tomorrow. He will have the mount on Old Bin. J. T. Looncy is negotiating to take over the con-tract held by S. Combs on jockey - ieehans services. ■Bail Herz has sold Trovato to Willie Martin. There were two claims following the running of the fifth race. Ask Ma was taken by ;. Phillips for 00 and Alston went to J. KraMe for the bame price.
