BLANKS FOR HARBOR HILL CUP RACE. Saratoga, N. Y., August 7. Blanks have been issued by Frank J. Bryan, secretary of the Piping Rock Racing Association, for tiie Harbor Hill Cup, which will be run at the autumn meeting at Locust Valley. In continuing this among American steeplechase races. Clarence H. Mackay, who donates each year the sum of ,000 and the plate, which has a value of 00, shows his sincere interest in cross-country racing. At various times, some few have opposed the racing of three-year-old jumpers, but their protest is so absolutely in opposition to the opinions of the majority, and the more practical devotees of this branch of racing, that they cannot be taken seriously. Witli a desire for constructive efforts only, Mr. Mackay this year considered a cliange of conditions, but after a most careful review of the wishes of all the more prominent owners, lie decided an alteration would be unwarranted. Each year since the race has been ran at Piping Rock, there has been a marked increase, not alone in the number of entries, but in the list of nominations. The Maryland Jockey Club will also give a three-year-old steeplechase next fall. This, as a sequence to the Harbor Hill, is certain to bring competition keener than ever, as this event will also have an added value of ,000.
