• GRAND NATIONAL BY RADIO The Grand National Steeplechase of 1927 was broadcast over the radio. This was the first occasion that a race had been described on the wireless in the British Isles and it provided a serious test as to the feasibility of broadcasting commentaries on events where the movements of the participants are spread over a considerable area.
