BID VANDERBILT HOME ADIEU ADIEUNEW NEW YORK N Y June 6 A democratic farewell brightened by 300000000 in gems ended the social career of Americas most famous town house early yesterday the magnificent Fifth Avenue mansion of Mrs Cornelius Vanderbllt The public at 10 a head joined with society in dancing in the palatial rooms that so often played host to royalty and the famous Mrs Vanderbilt in her famed diamonds and wearing her ever present fox scarf presided at the last party to be given in the mansion which soon will be demolished to make way for a modern office building Proceeds of the public ball go to charity
