TIP YOUR HAT, never far back, responded to a brisk hand ride through the stretch and disposed of the leaders during the last sixteenth. ECOMODATE went to the front early, faltered slightly when set down in the drive, but came again near the finish, although not good enough for the winner. SKI DAD, outrun to the stretch, closed willingly in a good effort. YANKEE NOTIONS, much used engaging ECOMODATE to the stretch, assumed a short lead when settled for the drive, but failed to stay. BAR GRENADE raced wide. FLY WHISK outbroke his rider and never was a serious factor. TRIPLANE was done early and bore in badly during the stretch run. Scratched— 983383 Highpat, 113. BLACK DRAGON, a sharp factor from the beginning, drifted out after taking command in the stretch, but lasted to withstand HEYDAY. The latter, slow to reach his best stride, was forced wide by the winner in the drive and, closing stoutly, was probably best. BAYONET, in close quarters early, worked way forward steadily when clear and finished determinedly under punishment. ADMIRAL PAT had a rough trip. RAY made the pace to the stretch, then faltered. COUNTY BELLE began slowly. ENSIGN HUNTLEY was outrun. LOMA MAR ROGUE broke fast and raced prominently to the stretch, then gave way. DONERO quit badly after forcing the pace to the final quarter. PHOTO LIGHT, much the best and never far back, was sharply impeded during the stretch run by HELIOTROPE, was taken up and sent to the outside and, responding readily to vigorous handling, disposed of the latter to win going away. HELIOTROPE went to the front at once, bore in badly under weak handling during the drive, bothered PHOTO LIGHT and was unable to withstand the latter. SEA TRAIL lacked early speed and could not better his position when set down in the stretch. SILVERS PRIDE failed to stay after racing prominetnly to the final quarter. MICHAEL J. was outrun. SEA PIGEON was done early. OH FELICIA began poorly and never threatened. Overweight— Sea Trail, 3 pounds; Michael J., 3; Oh Felicia, 1. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. SWEET GOODS sulked in the first three furlongs, then finished well under brisk urging. MEMORY BOSS was never dangerous. BE GONE gave way after making the pace to the stretch. NUDNICK had early speed.
