Novice Rider G. Monson Astride First Winner FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., May 28.— Ideal weather prevailed in the motor city area today and a crowd of about 14,000 patrons turned out for the second twilight program of the current Michigan racing season. The racing strip, which received a thorough soaking last Saturday, improved under the warm sun and a brisk breeze and it was rated good for the earlier events on the card. George Monson, a novice rider from New Orleans, piloted his first winning mount here today astride Albert Wellmans locally-owned Tip Your Hat. Seven ordinary platers met in the six furlongs sprint, Tip Your Hat holding a three-quarters length margin over Vincent Cicero, Sr.s, Ecomodate at the wire, while the latter was a miliar distance In advance of Anthony Graffagninis Ski Dad, who was third.
