A TUBF SWINDLER CAUGHT SARATOGA N Y August 26 A man named Greenbanm wired from Now York instructing Bookmakers Eddie Burke and Sol Lichten stein te bet 800 each on two horses which he named adding ihat bo had deposited that sum to tho credit of each in the Amsterdam Bank The operation proved successful netting this unique speculator 1012 which he called for in person last Thursday The following Saturday another order came by wire directing tho same layers to bet 500 each on Bines and Herbert and which sum was as in the previous transac ¬ tion supposed to be deposited in bank Lichten steins cashier had in the meantime wired the bank for information and was notified that no such person had made any deposits This clever swindler called today to collect his sup ¬ posed winnings on Blues and Herbert both of which had been successful and was arrested arrestedThe The stewards took up all bookmakers sheets on the St FinnanLatsonCarbnncle race today Ugly rumors are afloat reflecting upon G E Smith and his jockey Shaw and also involving J Hynes who trained both St Finnan and Latson In their previous meeting it was the talk of the track that St Finnan had been polled to Lat ¬ son and vice versa today Many good judges pronouced Shaws ride on the latter to have been criminal in appearance
