"The publication of the entries which were made at the New York office of the English Jockey Club for the Derby and Oaks of 1903 reveals the fact that, while our aggregate patronage of those great events is somewhat less than a year ago, there still exists a thorough determination to repeat the victories scored by Volodyovski and Cap and Bells in the great classics of 1901," 6ays Morning Telegraph. "Mr. Whitneys remaining Derbj yearlings are Eons of Hamburg, out of mares purchased at the Bitter Root sale. These comprise the bay colt Berriedalo and the bay colt Rose of Hampton. Berriedale is by Donovan Caithness, she by Bend Or Atlanta dam of Ayrshire, while Rose of Hampton is by Hampton Lady Primrose, she by Barcaldine Lady Roseberry, by Lord Clifden. Both Atlanta and Lady Roseberry are out of daughters of Woodbine, she by Stockwell. Atlantas dam produced St. Serf, while Lady Hoseberys produced the dam of Melton, all of which is thoroughly interesting as demonstrating the choice lineage of Mr. Whitneys Derby yearlings. "Mr. Madden names five Derby youngsters, leading with the colt St. Valentine II., by Himyar Bracelet, the dam of Bangle. The black or brown colt is, a full brother to Kensington, while Abdell is a bay son of Plaudit and Nahma. Panique is a bay colt by Plaudit Set Fast, and Alliance II. is a bay colt by Isador Greenwich. The Messrs. Keene each nominate a trio of year- ,r. ling fillies for the Oaks of 1903. The chestnut filly by Horoscope White Rose, is a half-sister to this years two-year-old winnar Whitechapel. Brown fillies by Kingston, out of Bonnie Gal and Citron-ella, complete the trio, of which the former is a half-sister to Disguise IL, winner of the 10,000 Jockey Club Stakes of 1900. "Mr. J. R. "Mr. Whitney nominates an illustrious pair of home bred fillies. The bay or brown filly by Kingston Ballyhoo, is a full sister to Ballyhoo Bey, the Futurity hero of 1900, while fthe chestnut filly by Meddler Yorkville Belle, is a half sister to Prince Charles, who won for Mr. Whitney the;Great American of 1900.
