Fleeing Venns, crossed at the start, came from a loog way back, and, finishing strongly, was easily best. Sweet Nell must be above the average and drew away from the others strongly right at the end. Meddling Mary, another promising filly, appeared to be the winner when a furlong out and should improve. Miladi Lov failed to stay, probably due to pacemaking in the face of a strong wind. Florite finished strongly. Futurita loomed up strongly a fnrlong out. but failed to stay. Marion Etta and Fair Lass were going will at the end. Hymettus was away badly and eased up in the last furlong and could have been closer up. Scratched 34976 Pride of Galore, 110; 34883 Orabel, 110; 34943 Medal, 110; 34883 Witfall, 110. Went to post at 3:00. At post 4 minute6. Start good. Won handily; second easily. Bockey broke flatfooted, faced around the field on the first turn, forced the pace and drew away in the last quarter with ease. He outclassed the field and is in rare form. Grail, unexpectedly improved, closed a big gap and finished fast. Potente is uncertain and was under a drive early to kesp up. Brandy Smash, a non-stayer, except perhaps in mud. ran extra well, and held on longer than usual. Satire, away poorly, closed up ground. Cornwall closed a big gap from a bad start. Ben Howard favors soft g ing or a grass course. Drummond had no chance at the start or with her bad jockey. Maltster is strictly a mudlark. Sergeant broke flatfooted and lost much ground in the first quarter, but with clear sailing rapidly overhauled the leaders and, racing wide on the turn, went to the front cantering when a fnrlong out and was much the best. Lady Josephine displayed brilliant form on the grass course, led at a terrific clip and tired at the end, but was easily sscoud best. Incubator, which h d bsen saved in the first half, finished stroDgly and was wearing Lady Josephine down at the end. Sailmakar, away in his stride, was quickly outrun, ran only a fair race and was outclassed. Athelroy is in bad form. BelleofTroy, in light and given a lucky start, forced the pace throughout and drew clear in the last furlong, winning going away. Ethics, very fit and improved over his recent previous journey, came on at the end with a rush. Douro, apparently beaten when a fnrlong out, came again very strongly and is in his best form. Advance Guard, nearly left, closed an immense gap, bnt was repeatedly ran into hopeleFS pockets, and in the stretch was forced to pull up and had no chance with the ride. Huntressa was outclassed and is not as good as the was at Saratoga. Himself set the pace for a mile ana then qnit badly, swerving over into Advance Guard and destroying his chances. Flora Pomona closed no much ground and drew out at the end very strongly. The Referee displayed a high order of speed and held on with surprising gameness. Orlotf went well, but had scant chance with his bad jockey. Clorita and Stuyve forced the pace to the stretch and tired. The first named is not at present as good as formerly. He appeared like comiDg away from them when a furlong put, but was tiring right at the end and barely lasted long enough. His Eminence was best and ran a fine race, but was used up in racing after Articulate. The latter sot a fast pace, tired at the end of a mile and a quarter and was unequal to the weight concession imposed on him.
