Acefull galloped unextended in front by a big margin and was only cantering at the end. He far outclassed the field and is probably the best two-year-old of the year. Lord of the Vale was hustled from the start and never fully in his stride, was a strong and fresh horse at the end and much the best of the others. Blue Ribbon broke slowly and lost ten lengths in the first quarter, but closed a big gap and finished like a cyclone. Clarion, easing up at the end and caught napping, displayed an unusual turn of speed and is a greatly improved colt. Durazzo ran well and is improving. Love Note and Fleeing Venus were outclassed. Bermis, best, in rare form and possibly the best colt of his age this year, raced Blues to defeat in the first mile and came away impressively in the last quarter. Articulate, which had trailed to the stretch, finished very strongly and ran a high-class race. Gunfire was poorly handled and in a pocket for the first halfr but ran up to her best form. Advance Guard broke so slowly as to have been nearly left, but closed an immense gap and was going fastest at the end, except the winner. Sombrero, away badly aild messed about, was ridden with poor judgment and was tiring at the end. Blues quit at the end of a mile and is a bad horse these days. v Scratched 34854 Bonnibert, 126; 35038 Igniter, 117; 34977Colonel Bill, 117; 35038 Gold Cure. 117; 34767 Andy Williams, 117; 34977 Par Excellence, 114. Captivator was badly messed about and inadequately handled. Sinner Simon, away poorly, closed a big gap and must be above the average and was probably best. Kentucky Rose broke slowly and was carried wide on the turn, but finished stroDgly. Tioga and Hackensaok ran well. Turnpike closed a big gap. Ringdove wants a longer route.
