Young Henry got away running and made the most of his advantage, displayed superior speed, but was driving at the end to beat Arsenal. The latter broke slowly, covered much unnecessary ground and finished with a rdsh, and was probably best. The Black Scot, fresh and good and in light, ran the bost race of his career and held on well at the end. Bluff required strong handling, broke slowly as usual and finished strongly., Honolulu was outclassed. Colouel Padden quit early and should improve. Jack Rattlin was outrun and carried hopelessly wide on the stretch turn. Acefull galloped unextended in front by a big margin and was only cantering at the end. He far outclassed the field and is probably the best two-year-old of the year. Lord of the Vale was hustled from the start and never fully in his stride, was a strong and fresh horse at the end and much the best of the others. Blue Ribbon broke slowly and lost ten lengths in the first quarter, but closed a big gap and finished like a cyclone. Clarion, easing up at the end and caught napping, displayed an unusual turn of speed and is a greatly improved colt. Durazzo ran well and is improving. Love Note and Fleeing Venus were outclassed. Merry Acrobat is strictly a mud lark. Scratched 349433Faulconbridge, 110; 35C04 Hymettus, 107. Corrected weights Durazzo, 107. Lord of the Vnle. show, 1 to 2. Blue Ribbon, show, 3 to 5. ? Winner Ch. c, by Hermence Katy of the West trained by J. fl. McCormick. Went to post at 3:50. At post 5 minutes. Start straggling. Won easily: second -handily. Hermis, best, in rare form and possibly the best colt of his age this year, raced Blues to defeat in the first mile and came away impressively in the last quarter. Articulate, which had trailed to the stretch, finished very strongly and ran a high-class race. Gunfire was poorly handled and in a pocket for the first halfr but ran up to her best form. Advance Guard broke so slowly as to have been nearly left, but closed an immense gap and was going fastest at the end, except the winner. Sombrero, away badly arid messed about, was ridden with poor judgment and was tiring at the end. Blues quit at the end of a mile and is a bad horse these days.
