BENNINGS IS IN NEED OF STABLE ROOM. Already Applications Are in for More Stalls Than Arc Available Garth Has Forty Horses. Washington, D. C, February S. That there is going to be a scarcity of stable room at Bennlngs, unless the Washington Jockey Club speedily builds a number of new barns, is already apparent. There are only 000 stalls at the course, and already applications arc in for quarters for 704 horses. Billy Garth, who is wintering horses for various owners at his Virginia farm, wants forty, stalls; August Belmont asks for twelve stalls for the horses which have wintered at Garnet, S. C; John E. Madden proposes to bring up thirty head from Hamburg Place in Kentucky and Gwyn Tompkins will be on baud with thirty steeplechasers iu the stable of "Mr. Cotton." While no dates have been allotted by the Jockey Club as yet, it is generally understood that the Bennings meeting will open March 20, and close April 14.
