"A. T. A. IS HERE TO STAY," EDWARD CORRIGAN SAYS GOVERNING BODY IS NOT TO BE SUPPLANTED. Company May Be Formed to Take Control of the City Park, Louisville and Lexington Tracks, However, A dispatch sent out from louisville to a Clueiu-nati newspaper Wednesday night was as follows: "Colonel M. J. Winn, president of the American Turf Association, confirmed a rumor tonight that a gigantic plan is well under way to supplant "the American Turf Association with a combination made up of Churchill Downs, Lalonia, Lexington and City Park, New Orleans, representing a capitalization of ,000,000. Associated with him are Edward Corrigau and Captain- Harry Brown." The correspondent evidently misconstrued the statements of President Winn. At the meeting of the directors of the American Turf Association iu this city on August 3, last, it was announced that steps had been taken whereby the financial interests of the New Orleans Jockey Club, the Latonia Jockey Club and the New Louisville Jockey Club could be combined at any time it might be deemed expedient. The mauner iu which this combine was to be formed was not outlined, but it was the impression at that time that a company might be organized of stockholders in the three tracks and directors in the American Turf Association to take over the control of the courses. Inauswer- toateliegraui WittoetDily" Racing Forms representatives in New Orleans requesting a statement from Mr. Corrigau on the subject, the following was received last night: "As yet nothing lias been done in the formation of a proposed company which will take over control of the three tracks mentioned," said Mr. Corrigau. "I expect that some arrangement will be arrived at shortly to attain that end. At all events, you can say for me that nobody will supplant the American Turf Association. It is here to stay."
