MUCH ROUGH RIDING IN THIS RACE. New Orleans, La.. March 1. The fourth race at Crescent Park today was marked by what some people call smart jockeying and others call fouling. Monaco Maid and Macy Jr., breaking from the outside and inside respectively, formed a pocket which compelled Martin on Goldsmith, to ease up when approaching the first turn. After making the turn, Aubuchon took the ral from Macy Jr., cutting liim off in doing so. As soon as Macy Jr. recovered his stride. Goldsmith went after Monaco Maid, caught and crossed her at the three-eighths post, forcing Aubuchon around on the outside. This prompted Martin to turn a little wide. By this time Macy Jr. was going great guns and Moreland shot him through the opening in time to win by a short head from Goldsmith, which bad the same advantage over Monaco Maid. Willie Shields says that Arthur Redfern is hard at work reducing and can now do 113 pounds. James 11. Ward was ordered scratched by tae judges because of a lack of definite identification. Schoolmate was bid up from 00 to 00 in the third race by George Rowe and was sold to him.
