Tudor followed Tony Bonero closely to the head of the stretch, where he began to close up aud, in a driving finish, had enough left to withstand Gold Note in the closing strides. The latter finished fast and gamely. Tony Bonero showed speed, but tired badly in the tlnal sixteenth. The race was run during a blinding; rainstorm and It was impossible to distinguish the colors of those behind the first three iu the stretch. Scratched 03127 J. R. Monacodor, away well in his stride, revelled In the sloppy going and, racing Hyperion to defeat In going to the head of the stretch, had enough left to withstand the closing rush of Embarrassment. The latter, slightly interfered with before the first turn was readied, made up ground gradually aud swung into the stretch close to the rail, apiieared dangerous at the final sixteenth, but faltered iu the closing strides. Hyperion was much used in chasing the winner and tired in the final eighth. Tickle ran well for six furlongs only. Hera was a game contender all the way and can win when properly placed. Cary apparently disliked the going and fell out of contention early, tiring almost to a walk at the end. Grace Kimball drew clear of her opponents while going around the far turn and, displaying a rare turn of speed through the going, won as her rider pleased. Poueuiah was prominent all the way and ran in Improved form. Round Dance went well and had no mishaps. Triumphant ran to the extreme outside of the track when entering the stretch bend and, before his rider could control him, dashed into the fence, throwing the boy completely over it. Earl Rogers lost some ground on the first turn, but had no mishaps thereafter and was easllv second best. Orfeo ran well and is ready to win in similar going over a shorter distance. Richard Jr. showed plenty of speed through the going, but could not withstand the winner s rush. Lady Stewart went well, but swerved slightly in the final hundred yards.
