In the free handicap at a mile and a sixteenth today, Pat Civills good horse Orlv ran the fastest race of the meeting at the distance, covering the route In 1:405 and winning easily. Orlys good third to Bedford yesterday at six furlongs Indicated that be was about ready to run to his best form. The longer instance today suited him better and, although with 115 pounds up, he was conceding actual weight to all the other starters, the paddock contingent supported him. The presence of Nicol in the saddle added to the confidence of backers. The horse 4iTa -long- sti-lder, .lieiivy- headed uud-uee4 - strong-rider to hold him together and keep him going. Getting away well, Nicol took the track with him at the rise of the barrier and. set the pace steadily throughout. A good card and favorable weather drew out the usual big attendance. Favorites and second choices captured a fair share of the races aud the public did better in a speculative way than at any time in the last week or so. The showing of Whippoorwlll, which won the sixth race, was a decided improvement over his previous effort and Judge Mncfarlan announced that in future entries from J. II. Youngs stable will not be accepted at this track. Young had evidently incurred the displeasure of Frank Doss, who bid the horse up from 00 to 00 and got The V.. Morrison tangle has finally been adjusted and the jockey will resume riding at once, Wayne .Toplin having telegraphed to Judge Mncfarlan that he bad released Morrison from his contract and that in the future he could ride for any one he pleased. There is a bare possibility that Morrison may be iersuaded to . go to Ihiglaud to ride. There is a good position awaiting him there If he decides to go abroad.
