FORMAL APPLICATION FOR AN EXTENSION. Latonia Jockey Club Mails Horsemens Petition to the Kentucky State Racing Commission. Cincinnati, O., June 29. The Latonia Jockey Club today forwarded the following communication to the State Racing Commission at Lexington, Ky. : "We enclose you herewith a ietltion to your honorable liody signed by over one huudred horsemen and representing owners of over twelve hundred horses, asking that you grant additional racing dates to the Latonia Jockey Club, Covington, Ky., and we herewith make formal application for additional racing dates to extend from July 5 to August 11, 1900, inclusive." There Is little, if any doubt, that the petition will be granted. Some aver that the raclug may continue up to September 1. Should this come to pass the knowing ones further declare that a fall meeting will lie dispensed with, as the time later in the season will be divided between Douglas Park and Churchill Downs.
