PROTEST AGAINST GO BETWEEN IS DENIED. Stewards Say No Description of Sex Accompanied the Original Entry of the Horse. New York, June .".0. The Hitchcock protest against payment of first money In the Suburban Handicap to Alex Shields on the ground that 3o Between had been incorrectly described as a gelding, lias been denied. The following official announcement, signed by stewards H. K. Knapp, S. L. Iarsons and H. B. Duryea, was given to the press at Sheepshead Bay today: "The protest lodged on June 7 against Go Between as a winner of the Suburban Handicap on the ground of his being entered as a gelding, is denied, no description of sex having been given in making the original entry." Messrs. Hitchcock and Madden sent word to the press that they accepted the adverse decision of the stewards in the matter; of their contention that the Suburban winner had been incorrectly described with pblllsophical resignation, and that they wished it to be understood that their protest was purely In the interests of correct and unassailable thoroughbred records. The question of Gd Betweens sex has not been settled, however, and there is more of controversy over It now than at the time of tiling the protest. The Jockey Club, It is said, has named a cominis-. slon of experts to investigate and establish officially the sex of the five-year-old Meddler horse.
