Kernel was skillfully reserved within striking distance of the pacemaker until in the last furlong, where he passed theni as if they were standing still. Phantom, showing sudden improvement, ranged alongside of the favorite from the start and persistently roughed him about until he tired finally when beginning the closing quarter and it also beat himself. Knight of Elway set the pace until Hearing the last jump, was then repeatedly bumped and forced into close quarters when going over the last obstacle and was nearly knocked to his knees. Aeronaut, very good again, received a flying start, established a small lead at the start and set a tremendous pace to the last turn, where he drew out and won as his rider pleased, llandzarra ran lapped on the winner on the Inside to the stretch, where she tired slightly, but is very good. Tiptoe was under a pull in close pursuit of the leaders during the early running, but tired in the stretch as If short and was a lucky third. .China, awayvery badly, closed a big gap and. going like a cyclone at the end. ran a crack-lug race. Edna Jackson displayed brilliant speed for five furlongs, but tired at the end. Monet, nearly left, closed an Immense gap, running a remarkable race. Tommy AAaddell finished close up and going fast and is in extra good form. Firebrand, a grand looker, ran a good race and is worth watching. Rams Horn, a slow beginner, made up ground throughout In a good effort. Water Pearl forged into the lead at the start and fell back at the half, again going to the front in the stretch, but suddenly and unexpectedly tired right at the end. It being a peculiarly run race so far as the leaders were concerned. Ballot, away badly and jammed at the start, never got fully into his utrlde, kept coming, however, under the whip and finished an easy third. Etlion, away very badly, came along with a swift closing sprint on the outside and put up an extra good effort. Charles Edward, a slow be-ginuer, worked through a roilgh journey almost throughout and finished with a rush . Paumonok closed a big gap. Aletheuo failed to stay, but ran prominently- to the stretch. Tradition made the early running at a -stiff pace, but lost ground through her jockeys bungling efforts to keep her from going wide and, fumbling the lines, was weakly handled at the finish. Pirate Polly was always in close pursuit of the other two at the end and was going nearly as well. Snow King dropped to the rear after going the first quarter.
