Livius, well up all the way, saved ground on the stretch turn and, finishing fast along the rail under punishment, won going away. Sweet Kitty was much used in forcing the pace and tired, but held qn resolutely and out-gamed Pepper and Salt in the closing drlve The latter was favored by the going and ran a good, game race. Black Flag ran on the outside all the way, loomed up prominently at the final eighth post, but tired at the end. The race was run durlne a heavy rainstorm. Secret, slightly interfered with while going around the first turn, moved up on the backstretch and, slipping through along the rail on the far turn, stole a winning lead on the stretch bend, which he maintained to the end. Non-tense raced Delmore into defeat in the first half and gamely withstood Ruth W. in the closing strides. The latter made a good effort when straightened out for the finish, but quit in the closing strides. Del-wore retired early. Sanfara was outrun to the stretch bend, but drew up on Massive when well straightened out in the stretch and, in a driving fihUh, outstayed him in the closing strides. Massive showed much improvement, displayed a rare turn of speed through the sloppy going and, standing a closing drive gamely, hung on well to the end. Dr. AVentker showed SDeed and will do better on a fast track. Lucy Strome got off tangled up and had a rouch journey.
