JOHN L. INGLIS IS SET BACK FOR FOUL. Bolts Across the Track at StartsOwner Says Sore Mouth the Cause More Bain, Cincinnati, 0., August 7. John L. Inglls was first to finish in the mile handicap, which featured todays card at Latbnia, but he did not get any part of the purse. The judges did not even put up his number. At the start the Fizer horse shot across the track from the outside to the inner .rail, thereby impeding all of his company and taking a lead which he maintained to the finish, outstaying The Minks in the final drive by a neck, with Colonel Jim Douglas in third place a small margin In front of Old Stone. The judges gave first money to The Minks, second to Colonel Jim Douglas and third to Old Stone, announcing that John L. Inglis had been disqualified for the foul. The decision was greeted with cheers. The Judges were inclined to punish jockey Seder, holding him to blame for the fouling, but after listening to the owners statement that the horse had a sore mouth, which was corroborated by starter Holtman, they dismissed the jockey. The horse will, however, be barred from starting here until his mouth heals. The disqualification cost owner Fizer, so lie said, ,300. A heavy shower before race time cooled things considerably and made the track slow during the remainder of the afternoon. The sport, however, was interesting and again resulted in the overthrow of choices, not a single one landing first money. The first race for two-year-olds at three-quarters of a mile during the present meeting was won by Pat Dunnes Friction in decisive style from Barney Schreibers Saiurida. Webber, .running in the name of ex-jockey D. Hall, was a fair third in the race. Mayor Johnsons victory cost his owner 00, the amount he was bid up by 0. C. McCarferty. J. C. Ferriss, Jr., has protested payment of the purse in yesterdays steeplechase, won by Class Leader. He holds a claim against the horse. The matter has been referred to the executive committee of the American Turf Association. Kleinwood, Glisten and La Thorpe are out of training. They have been fired for splints.
