Miss Anxious, well handled and away in a forward position, followed Black Mantilla closely for the first half, then took the lead and held the race safe in the final drive. Lady Lavish ran a good race and came with a great burst of speed through the stretch. Black Mantilla broke running and, showing the most speed, led unextended. to the llnal furlong, where she tired unexpectedly and had to be hard ridden to save third place. Belltoone ran a fairly good race and was going well at the end. Stella Eichburg went well. Duessa was aivay too poorly to cut any figure in the result. Beatrice K. was almost left and had scant chance. Jay Ward ran a poor race. Harold D., away well and running to his best form, followed Ilelmuth closely and. standing a hard drive gamely, won in the final stride. Ilelmuth, also well ridden and showing the most early speed, lasted better than usual and put up a game effort. Camp, poorly handled, was crowded several times and weakly ridden near the end. Demo closed a big gap and had to overcome interference. Montalban tired after showing good form for a half. Gabble had a rough trip. Dr. Frank ran an extra good race and. finished going fast. Mayor Johnson, favored by the soft going, assumed a long lead at once, won all the way and was easing up in the last furlong. Tom Crowe ran a good race, was in close quarters for the first half ahd nearly thrown, had to go around and, standing a hard drive through the last furlong, outgamed Martins. The latter ran a dull nice and was hard ridden all the- way. Frank Bill was a smart factor In the early stages ami stayed well In the final drive. Inglis broke running and at once shot across in front of the others, causing a jam and nearlv throwing several of the starters, then took a long lead and set the pace steadilv, stood a hard drive through the stretch and outstayed The Minks, but vas disqualified for fouling. The Minks came fj.St from a long way back after overcoming early interference and finished gamely. Colonel Jim Douglas was almost thrown soon after the start and knocked far back, showed good form and much speed and might have won but for the interference. Old Stone quit badly after going three-quarters. Captain Bush ran a fairly good race. Tom Roberts had scant chance after the interference.
