COMPLICATED STAKE CONDITIONS. Of a matter now engaging the attention of French owners and breeders London Sporting Life of July 24, says: "Just now there is considerable discussion over the wording ot the conditions for the Prix La ltoehette, a rich Triennial to be run In Paris. The race is to be mu three consecutive years; in 100G, with a prize of 20,000 francs for two-year-old colts and 20,000 francs for fillies; next vear there is 30,000 francs for the colts and a similar prize for the fillies; while the value of the decider, In 3908, is over -10,000 francs. Horses engaged must have never ceased to belong to their breeder. If, cither before of after the engagement, the breeder should have sold, leased, or in any way parted with his interest in the horse engaged, it is considered as having paid forfeit, and the entrance fee will not be returned to him. Each owner, or association of owner, may enter one colt and one lllly, but Ixjth must belong to one owner or association ot owners, If an owner should become possessed of anv siare or interest in any other horse engaged, J-oiieVof the horses In which he has a share or W.-irest can run, and the entrance fees will not be Teturued to him. The object of this race is to encourage breeders to race their produce instead of selling them. The difficulty forseen Is In the case of a syndicate of breeders and there are several in France, which before the last race is run shall change its composition, through death or otherwise. Would the horses engaged by that syndicate beeome disqualified? There are also other possible difficulties that may arise from the wording of the conditions of the race."
