STREETT HAS MORE BAD LUCK AT LATONIA. Toboggan, Prepared for a Coup, Breaks Down Devout Wins the Handicap Rains Again. Cincinnati, O., August 21. The nsual big crowd was in evidence at Latonla today. The sport turned out better than the card promised. Well backed horses were contenders in all of the races. The Englishman, while not a choice, was well backed. The only real outsider to land In front was Light-burn. S. W. Streett, who has been in bad luck all this year, essayed a killing with Toboggan. Streett lias been waiting with the horse since last winter. He had worked well and the tip had been floating around the country for the past two days to get aboard. That he would have rewarded his backers 13 almost a certainty but for the fact that he broke down after showing high speed for three-quarters of a mile. He was game enough to finish third on three legs. The free handicap, the feature of the card, went to Devout, a receding favorite, supplanted by Alcor, which was the medium of an Ill-advised plunge. The Talbot candidate ran a bad race, quitting with his mouth wide open after going a half. In addition to Devouts victory, Pat Dunne landed a purse with Bonart, mainly dne to Nlcols superior ride. NIcol also scored with Mansard. The latter opened a 2 to 5 favorite, but while betting was in progress a heavy rain fell and word was spread industriously that Mansard could not run in mnddy going, so his price went back steadily until there was 7 to 5 at post time. Some of the wise division made a mistake in their calculations, as Mansard won off By himself. The change in track caused a shifting in prices all around. Santon was especially desired by the punters and bis price was pounded from 8 to 1 to 2 to 1. Mansards victory was not very profitable to the Keene brothers.- It cost them 00 to retain the horse, the amount.-he was-bid tip by YTGlibertr over the entered price of 00. The muddy track also assisted the Keenes to land the closing race with Mandator. He" won as his rider pleased from Coruscate, which was an easy second before Docile. Frank Doss bid up The Englishman from 00 to 00. He was retained by the stable. Anbucbon, who rode Revolt in the sixth race, sustained a peculiar Injury. Just as the field was dispatched Revolt threw her head back and struck Aubuchon on his forehead and raised a lump nearly the size of an egg. He. was still dazed when he dismounted. The owners of Lexoline have decided to turn the colt out for some time. He appears thin and frail and is suffering apparently from some skin disease. Labor broke down after going a quarter of a mile in bis race and was pulled up. Arthur Worley, trainer for L. A. Bonsack, will leave tomorrow for Douglas Park to assume charge of the horses comprising the. string of H. P. AVittenburg. The entire string of horses now in training owned by Talbot Brothers, will be sold by auction next Friday in the paddock.
