Sir Russell decisively outstayed and outpaced his opponents and won all the way never fully extended. General Haley broke slowly on the inside, but gradually Improved his position, finishing with a game stretch run. Nealou was gradually shuffled to the rear on the inside in deep going and. In a belated end rush, got up Into a fast going third under a bad ride. Bill Phillips, skillfully reserved for a half mile, failed when called ou in the last quarter. Court Martial ran lapped on the winner to midway of the stretch, where he tired badly. Warning away poorly, closed a big gap in the last half. Belle of Pequest was never dangerous and appeared anchored after going the first quarter. Woolwich is a good breaker, soon overhauled the pacemaker and, gradually forging Into the lead ou the last turn, gamely stalled off Neptunus resolute stretcli challenge and drew out at the end. Neptunus. badly handled, ran forwardiy from the start aud challenged menacingly in the stretch, but swerved all over the course under the whip and was repeatedly pulled up, or he might have won. Aucassin, a slow beginner, got Into a good position in the first quarter and finished fast iuto an easy third. Embarrassment, away very badly, closed an Immense gap and needs a vigorous ride. Delmore displayed superior earlv speed, but, as usual, failed to stay. Yada dropped to the rear in the first half, ran a bad race and eau do much better. Yankee Gun had clear sailing on the outside, maintained a good position from the start, dashed through on the inside on the stretch turn and got up unpercelved to win in the last stride of a long closing drive. De Mund made the running under a pull, stood off Golf Balls challenge in the stretch and was winning, but lost through Radtkes carelessness in the last stride. Golf Ball was In strenuous and close pursuit of De Mund throughout and consequently tired right at the end. Rosemount ran forwardiy throushuul, was forced out of position on the last turn and knocked back, coming again like a shot and ran a grand race. Zambesi, palpably short, ran a game race, got away badly and closed a big gap aud is a supposed good one. Chaucellor, a grand looker, ran green and made up a lot of ground in the last half. Arslte was shut off at the start and knocked to the rear and handicapped by the going. Jersey Lady ran sluggishly and appeared to be unfit. Red Leaf set the pace fast after going the first sixteenth and held sway to the end never seriously menaced and was much the best in the going. Bedouin liked the going, showed sudden improvement and, after being reserved in the early running, finished with a rush and ran a good race. Outcome, badlv outpaced for the first six furlongs, closed up rapidly In the last half, ran as if short and can do much botter. Dolly Spanker disliked the going and, after forward contention for a mile, quit badly. Raveua was palpably anchored in the stiff going and also retired after running prominently for six furlongs. Corrigan forged to the front on the first turn and made the running by a comfortable margin, winning as his rider pleased. Macy Jr. moved up in pursuit of the leader on the backstretch, but could never get up under an inadequate finish. Ebony ran forwardiy for half the journey, then dropped back, coming again unexpectedly well in the stretch. Edith James commenced to lose ground after going the first quarter. Cadichon showed prominently for five furlongs, but failed to stay. Oro, badly handled, ran 011 the extreme outside all the way, showed plenty of speed, held on well aud was a good horse badly messed about. Johnstown, a slow beginner, steadily Improved his osltIon, gamely earning second place, and was seriously handicapped by the going. Royal Scot ran in nearest pursuit of the winner to the stretch and seemingly dropped back beaten, but came again very gamely. Holscher, awav very slowly and badly outpaced for the first half, closed up rapidly In the last half. Elm Ridge also suffered at the start and made up a lot of ground. Fatinitza failed to stay after a good display of early speed. Mount Henry ran as if still short.
