CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE FUTURITY. This day will be marked in racing history by the nineteenth running of the Futurity. The first Futurity was won by a western horse, the famous Proctor Knott. Since then the big race has generally fallen to an eastern owner, but Ogden, Savnble and Ormondale have followed the example of Proctor Knott and won for the west, while Martimas enabled Canada to once claim its honors. Although its value fluctuates, it is the richest stake of the world for two-year-olds. Its high-mark year was in 1800, when it had a gross value of 7,000, of which 1906.sh7,G75 fell to the winner, Potomac. It was least valuable in 1809, when Chacornac won for James R. Keene. That year Its gross was 1,000 and Its net 0,630. Generally speaking, Its winners have been excellent racehorses in subsequent years. LAloactte wis the lowest class horse that ever took its honors, but Proctor Knott, Potomac, Morello, Domino, The Butterflies, Requital, Savable, Hamburg Belle and Artful were of very high class.
