TOOTS MOOK WINS WINDSOR FEATURE. Detroit, Mich., August 31. This was Ladles day and there was a big crowd at Windsor. Seven races were on the card and, while only two pro-jionnoed favorites won, the public generally got the !est of the layers on the second and third choices that won. The race for all ages, at five and a half furlongs, brought out the best sprinters at the track. Charlie Eastman was considered to have the race at his mercy and was well backed at odds-on. As the horses were called to the post a rush was made for the betting ring and the "educated money" went on Toots Mook as if it was all over. At post time 7 to 5 was the best to be had. At the start Charlie Eastman was first to Aw, closely followed by Toots Mook. and after a quarter of a mile was passed the two hooked up and ran as a team to the finish. Charlie Eastman with riders reversed, would have won, as Hogg seemed to be over-confident and he lost the decision by the shortest of margins. All of the races today, with the exception of one, were of the nose and head order, the general opinion was that it was the best days racing ever seen at the Windsor track. G. B. Morris sold today to Dr. McQueen the chestnut filly Sweet Kitty, by Toddlngtou Mamie B.. for 50. Jockeys Lee and Shilling were fined 0 for disobedience at the post iu the first race and Fisehcr got 5 iu the second. Kunz drew a fine of 0 iu the fourth and jockey Kelly drew a three days suspension for pulling up at the start in the sixth. The entry of Lady Jocelyn will hereafter be refused by order of the judges. She came from the paddock like a wild horse for the seventh race, got away from jockey Wishard and ran at full speed for a mile before she was pulled up. Sam Wagner, accompauied by Charles Smith, was a visitor at Windsor today. Fleeting Star was sold today before the second race by W. T. Anderson to James Robertson, the consideration being 00. She ran in her new owners name and colors today. Fred Gerhardy was notified today of his appointment as starter and handlcapper for the meeting f the Montreal Hunt Club. The meeting will be held at the new track and will begin October 3. Joe Hubbard sold today to W. M. Richards the liny gelding, Frank Collins; the consideration being private.
