Cincinnati. O., August 31. The attendance at Latonia today was unusually large, considering the fact that nothing ont of the ordinary was carded for decision. The feature offering was a steeplechase over the short courne, in which seven started. Six finished and furnished a spectacular contest. The horse ran closely grouped for the greater portion of the journey. Subador, running in improved form, led for the entire distance and came home a handy winner from Wool Dealer. Three favorites were successful, but their victories did not seriously deplete the rolls of the bookmakers, as the betting on all of them was extremely light. Esterre, which won at 20 to 1, gave the bookmakers clean sheets. Angletas defeat in the sixth race was a hard blow to most of the speculators. The Schreiber Ally was considered a "rod In the pickle" and was supported with liberal confidence!. Keyes, her rider, rode her poorly and caused her defeat. With good handling she would have won off by herself. Nothing further developed in the investigation of Oberts ride on Coruscate yesterday, and the judges still have - the matter under, investigation.
