Goldmate was well handled, ran under reserve close up until rounding the turn Into the stretch, where he moved up rapidly, wore down La Gloria in the last sixteenth and won going away. The latter set a terrific pace to the stretch, but tired badly In the final furlong. Peter Paul began slowly, but finished fast through the stretch and outgamed Ballotta for third place. Leo Paul ran forwardlv throughout and outstayed Ouardi gamely for second place. Ouardi, off badly, closed a big gap, was compelled to go to the ontsid: and finished with a rush. After taking the second jump JIanzauo, had 110 effective opposition and won pulled up, mischances having destroyed the chances of the others. Trenct the Mere fenced and ran badly. Sam Parmer was pulled up at tiie first jump to avpid an accident and was hopelessly beaten when sent on again. Sartor IJesartus bolted through the wing of the first jump and Peter Becker ran out at the second. Little AVally made a bad landing over the fourth jump and his rider fell off. Solon Sliingle ran forwardly throughout and, although tiring In the last sixteenth, outgamed Request for third place. The latter had no niiyliaps. The others were always outrun. Boola sprinted away from her opponents at the rise of the barrier and set a. terrific pace, but tired and was doing her best at the end to stall oft Crip. The latter followed the leader closely and, finishing fast, was wearing her down at the end. Emiriola had no mishaps, ran to her best form and finished gamely. Reservation was saved from the early pace, wore down the leaders while rounding the far turn and finished fast, but had to be ridden out to stall off the rush of Monte. The latter, badly ridden, swung wide on all turns and finished on the outside and, better ridden, would have won. Scarecrow set a fast pace, raced Embarrassment Into defeat and had enough left to stall off the rush of Bell-the-Cat. The latter closed a big gap. Embarrassment ran well to the stretch and tired.
