Arklirta, on the extreme outside, broke llatfooted, but made up ground rapidly and, running around the others on the turn, got. up In the last stride of- a brilliant stretch sprint. Van Ness, from a llying start, was in forward and game contention throughout and favored by the mud. Robin Hood beat the barrier and set the pace to the last eouple of strides and was nosed out right at the end. Rusk broke badly, but quickly got iuto coutentiou, :;teadily Improved his position and finished close up. but hemmed In at the end. Pinkerton, from u striding start, rau prominently to the llnal sixteenth, where he tired as If short, but looks very good. Gambriniis, nearly left, closed a tremendous gap in a superior effort. Brush Up failed to stay. Diamond, away slowly, was never dangerous and can do much better, but labored in the going. Reflector is a good looker worth remembering. Dishabille, nearly left, trailed far in the rear to the far turn, where she commenced to gain rapidly and at the end was going fastest of all except the winner. True Wing shot Into the lead on the Inside on the first turn and set a terrifie pace to the stretch, where she tired badly and was injudiciously handled, but Is very good. Zienap retired tnrly. Bragg, very hot and alert, practically forced the pace from the start and but for excessive early irse would have won. Neptunus, after close pursuit of the leader from the start, was shuffled back on the far turn, then came on and earned a close up third place. Jennie McCabe loomed up well on the last turn, but tired at the end. McKlttredge, trailing and palpsnly handicapped by the going, made up ground at the end. Lancastrian disliked the going and was never dangerous. Leonard Joe Hayman quit suddenly after five furlongs of pacemaking and ran a thoronghly bad race. Taunt showed superior speed for five furlongs and swerved Into defeat- for third place. Elixir finished well up and held his position throughout. Narelle ran forwardly to the last turn, where she retired. Hickory got away poorly and was hopelessly outpaced all the way and evidently handicapped by the going.
