Miss Ogden, away slowly on the outside, rapidly improved her position and challenged and drew away from the pacemaker on the last turn, winning off cantering. Winning Hand outbroke the others and made the running to the last turn, then succumbed to the winner, but easily held the others safe for second place. Cloisteress steadily improved her position from an indifferent send-off and is a good looker. Jessamine got away poorly and made up considerable ground. Snow Ball showed early speed. Yalagal, sore and unfit to start, was unable to raise a respectable gallop and her race should be thrown out. Scratched 57S00 Cousin Eva, 113. Overweights Hampton Lady, 1 pound. d. Bound Brook ran in nearest pursuit of the pacemaker and challenged when beginning the last seven furlongs and drew out at the end, but blundered badly at several obstacles or he might have won more easily. Russell Sage came from the rear when Balzac and Nuit Blanche blundered at the last, jump and earned a lucky second place. Allegiance finished with a belatejl rush Into third place and likes a longer route. Adams was never dangerous and always outpaced. Orthodox showed speed for a mile and tired. Nuit Blanche went well and would have won but for a stumble at the last jump. Balzac fell at the last jump or he would have been a contender at the end and has developed into an erratic fencer. Merrill outbroke and outpaced his opposition under a skillful and lucky ride and has Improved. Victoria li., shut off several times and forced to pull up sharply, had scant chance, but closed a big gap in the last half and was best. Dan Buhre had no mishaps, got off well and had a good position, but quit badly in the closing drive. Dunvallo ran forwardly to the stretch, where he quit. Ambush closed up ground in the last half. Pontoon, nearly left, ran well. Pins and Needles was probably short. The withdrawal of George S. Davis was announced after betting had progressed for fifteen minutes and all bets were declared off. Proper, after being reserved nearly throughout in close pursuit of Oxford, wore him down in the last quarter and got up in the last stride to score a lucky win. Oxford made the running to the last stride and showed brilliant speed and stamina, but Horner rode an awkward finish and that beat him. Flip Flap, sore and unfit, trailed far back for a mile and was gaining slowly at the end. Far West, from a Uying start, made the running by open daylight to the far turn, where he shook off the favorites challenge and drew out to win us Ids rider pleased. Garnish, very good, got away badly, but closed a big gap and got up in the last stride for second place In a grand effort. Dolly Spanker was sore and began slowly, was forced to run wide aronud the first turn, but quickly got in touch with the leader and maintained close pursuit to the stretch, where he tired badly. Miss Crawford held a forward position to the far turn, where she fell back and then came on again. Orilene ran prominently for a mile. Tommy Waddell, away badly, made up considerable ground and is inproviiig. True Boy also improved Ids position. Bad News was always outpaced. Landsman ran. lapped on the pacemaker to the stretch, where he drew clear momentarily and his rider was caught napping right at the end. Gargantua broke slowly and ran sluggishly, went wide on the turns and finished gaining slowly. Tony Bonero developed superior speed and led to midway of the stretch, where he tired. El Dorado, "nearly left, closed an immense gap and was much the best. Hickory made up a lot of ground from a bad start. Ben Trovato ran in improved form for a mile and ran a good race. Rappahannock got away badly on the inside and made up corisidemhle ground. Ligiit Comedy broke flatfooted and improved his position In the last half. Reba Stone, nearly left, closed a gap and is reported to have shown good private trials. Cork Hill bad no chance at the start.
