MUNICIPAL TO DISHABILLE. BENNETTS MARE VANISHES GOOD COMPANY AT BELMONT PARK. W. H. Daniel Wins the Nursery Stakes Alfar Scores in the Brook Cup Steeplechase Sewell Equals a Track Record. Now York, October 13. Ideal, autumn, weather ami the best card of the meeting brought 25,000 racegoers to Belmont Fark this afternoon. The splendid program was composed of three important stake fixtures. The Brook Cup Steeplechase Handl-. cap, over the full course of three miles; the rich Nurseiy Handicap for two-year-olds, over the six furlongs straightaway; the Municipal Handicap, at one mile and tliree-qnarters for three-year-olds and upward, and three Interesting overnight purse races. There were good fields in all of the races and mnny high-class horses were engaged. Dishabille, George C. Bennetts grand little mare, vanquished good handicap horses In -the Municipal. There was great rejoicing, nmong the western contingent over her pronounced victory. Her owner and friends took a lot of money out of the ring in winning wagers, the Tennessee-bred four-year-old lxlng. In fact, the best backed horse in the race. W. H. Daniel confirmed his splendid Sheepshead Bay form by leading a field of the best class two-year-olds in training home in the Nursery Handicap. A big commission from his owners E;-S.,-Burke;- Jrv a young Cleveland millionaire and friend of the Ralney Brothers, was responsible for the short price laid against the Woolsthorpe colt, at the close. Fonntainblue, ridden by Shaw, performed inglori-ously in this race and his pretentions to high class among the two-year-olds of this season were shattered completely. Sewell performed brilliantly .-in the opening seven furlongs condition race, defeating the Metropolitan Handicap winner Grapple over his favorite course and distance and equalling the track record of 1:25 made by Aeronaut last fall. Hylas bolted the course when winning easily in the steeplechase allowing Alfar to get up and score at the end. Two gentlemen jockeys, C. Smith and Devcreaux riding respectively Woolgatherer and Yama Christy, put up a rare exhibition, in the saddle. The alleged windmill of steel construction erected by the poolroom interests this week on a hill facing J he Belmont backstretch, came to an untimely end. It was dynamited during the night by unknown miscreants and rendered so unsafe that the poolroom lookouts, did not venture to ascend it today for the purpose of getting the results.
