Sister Frances was waited with to the head of the stretch, where she went past Consistent without much effort and was cantering at the finish. Consistent was always in forward contention aud easily held Zienap safe. Zienap got off flying, but dropped back quickly, then made up ground, but seemed tumble to run freely in the- going. Watergrass was always outrun. Single Shot was never a contender. Delphle showed early speed. Incorrect weight in entries Zienap, 100. Frank Gill was reserved in the early running, but inoved up when Shaw made his call in the stretch and, drawing away, won in a canter. Oraculum showed much the most speed for the first half, but lost a lot of ground by going wide on the. home turn and tired In the stretch. Purslane was hard ridden from the start and appeared dangerous at the head of the stretch, but failed to stay In the final drive, ruiuepec ran well throughout, but was outclassed by the placed horses. California King was always a close contender, caught Ormondes Right at the furlong post and seemed to be winning easily, when he suddenly swerved to the outside fence, causing Notter, on Ormondes Right, to pull up sharply. Notter claimed foul and it was allowed. Ormondes Right set the earlv pace, but was made too much use of and tired, finishing resolutely, however. Wes went well, but was tiring fast at the finish and just lasted long enough to beat Sir Ralph for third place. The latter ran a fairly good race. Martin Doyle was skillfully rated In the run down the backstretch, saved ground on the turns, came on fast when called on and won with plenty to spare. Agile, after trailing far back, closed up very fast through the last furlong. Angler wore blinkers today and ran in improved form, forced the pace for nearly a mile and tired in the last furlong. Cederstrome tired at the end of six furlongs. Tommy Waddell broke slowly and was raced to the front, then quit and ran a bad race for him. Leonard Joe Hayman raced Battleaxe into subjection in the first three-quarters, then came on and won as ids rider pleased. Nellie Burn maintainod her speed further today than, she usually does and outstayed Battleaxe for second place. Battleaxe showed the most, early speed, but failed to stay and "was tiring fast at the end. Mary B. Clark finished fast and would have been third in another stride. Woolwich ran far below his true form, especially in going favorable to his chances. Merlingo bore out under the whip in the stretch drive. Incorrect weight in entries 0. K., and3. d.
