WHIMSICAL IS DOING NICELY. New York. January IS. There is every prospect that Whimsical xxill show ureal improvement over In-;- form of mat season. She was badly trained early last year and practically knocked out for the .season by harried preparation for the Carter Handicap. She xvas retired early, and Irani; Weir in whose String •lie is now trained at Graveaeud, has in her a decidedly different looking lilly from the thin and scraxvny appearance she presented last season. She has taken on flesh. Her legs are as clean as a foals and if she does not again fall a victim to rheumatic troubles she will surely race with the greatest credit. Site is eligible for the three Mi ant mile and a quarter events, and will probably be named for the Impartanl lixtures at Belmont Park. It is typical of Bosehen, the peat sprinter and Weight carrier, that he alxvays looks well. Even in braining he carries a lot of flesh and looks big. He is wintering in the hant of condition. He was in better condition when retired lo winter quarters than earlier in the season. At present he is lively as a cricket ami gives every evidence of continuing his brilliant career through the coming season. Tlie mistakes of mat season in running him beyond his distance xxill not be made this year. He has not been named for either of the "Big Three" handicaps, hut will undoubtedly Ik- pointed for the Carter Handicap again, with the hope of repeating his success of last year in the first big stake of the season.
