MAY ENLARGE JAMAICA COURSE. New York. April . . — There is better than a paa-Hibility that the Jamaica course will undergo most important changes before long. There is to he a meeting of the directors of the Metropolitan Jockey Club within the next ten days to consider the advisability of converting the course into a mile and an eighth oval. To accomplish this end it is proposed to take in sufficient of the property to the left of the present track enclosure. The club owns a live furlong strip and it would only meal* the chaiigiug of the right spur that runs to the gales. The railroad, it has been said, would readily consent to the change of the right of way if it is decided that the property be converted to the im proving of the course. Several of the directors are known to be in favor of the much needed improvement and at this time the prospect is bright for another excellent track on Long Inland. Brer since Jamaica lias bad races the track itself has been at fault, on account of its cramped condition. All this would be b away with and the enlarging of the property would do much to make it a wondroiisly popular racing spot. It is easy of access and the stands are commodious and comfort able. With a bigger track there would be a greater variety to the racing and the danger of the turns would be removed. It would also make possible the establishment of a Irst-elaM steeplechase held. thereby attracting a most desirable clientele to the ground. _
