NEALON PAYS HIS WAY. Nealon. the four year-old brown colt by Sain-Sisler Josephine, owned by . K. Durnell and B. Schreiber. and racing in the name of the former. is Iceing pointed by W. A. McKinney, his preseni trainer, for the Brooklyn Handicap, which is to lie run at Gravesend next Saturday. Nealon ran I good race for his new trainer in 1 lie Metrojiolitaii last Thursday, and lie will be carefully hamlled in preparation for the Brooklyn. Suburban and Brighton Beach handicaps, his weight for these races lieing 114. 11* and IK pounds respectively. Nealon has run a number of good races since his first start at the Fair Grounds in St. Louis. June .. 190." for Mr. Schreiber. who bred the colt at his Missouri farm and raced him in his name, trained by EL R. Brandt until IH-cemlier 13, 190G. when he sold an interest in the colt to C. E. Durnell. who since has been his trainer until leaving for Europe a week ago. Nealons last race for Schreiber was over the two and one-quarter miles course in the Belmont Park Autumn Weight for Age Rate, when he finished second to Running Water, after setting all the pace and was only beaten by a nose, running a wonderful race. He has run twice in the Burns Handicap and once for each of the fol lowing well known handicaps: Family Club. Municipal. Jerome, Occidental. Oceanview, Hotel Gayoso, and the California Derby, all of which he failed to win, the only near-win being the California Derby. where he finished second to Good Luck, at Oakland. February 22. IMC. He won the Dolphin Stakes at Sheepshead Bay, September 4, 1900, and three days later chipped three-fifths of a second off the track record in winning the Turf Haudicap over the turf course of a mile and a quarter, running it in 2:058. At the same track on the 12th he won the mile and three-eighths race, and for the only time in his career making three straight wins. He is not partial to any kind of track conditions and can put up a good effort over any distance from the Futurity course to a mile and one eighth.
