FIRESTONE IS READY TO RACE. New York, June 12.— Firestone, the star two-year old in the stable of President Thomas H. Williams of the New California Jockey Club, which arrived from Oakland last week in charge of Dr. II. K. Rowell, has had his first gallop at Sheeps-head Bay, and he shows no ill effects from his trip across the continent. "Firestone shipped in splendid condition. In fact, I never saw a two-year old ship better," said Dr. Rowell to-day. "He was like a seasoned traveler, eating regularly, and being provided with a box all to himself, spent most of the time lying down. He is in good condition that I may conclude to give him an outing before the Gravesend meeting closes." If he does not start at Gravesend it is probable that Firestone will make his eastern debut in the Double Event which will be one of the lea Hires of the card for the opening of the Sheeps-head Bay meeting June 20.
