Jennings Cave Ad-sum had his final trial for the Canadian Derby, to be run at Fort Erie Monday, when he won the fourth race at Kenihvorth this afternoon in handsome fashion and ran the mile in 1;39, after being kicked in the side by George S. Davis while at the post and outrun by him the first three-quarters of the mile. Cave Adsum came through the last quarter with a great burst of speed and had a lead of three lengths as the winning line was passed. In the Canadian Derby Cave Adsum has a big pull In the weights over Eflicott and may prove troublesome to Madigans crack. In all of the seven races the entries were numerous enough, but when owners got through declaring out, all but the first and third races were scratched to pieces. The only close finish of the afternoon came with the running of the first race, which went to Dr. J. F. Aitken. He beat Rector-town out a neck after a hard drive. Dr. J. F. Aitken was purchased by his present owner a few days ago from the Haymans and has been schooled through the field with the idea of making a steeplechaser of him. Todays jumping race was ruined by withdrawals and was little better than a farce. The Canadians cut loose a good thing in the fifth race in Gold Note and got the money. Gold Note was backed from t! to 3 to 1 and while the horses were at the post the money was still going on. Me-Danlel managed to get Gold Koto off in front and he led all the way, winning in a canter by three lengths. It was a big day for the colored riders, Lee winning two races and Lycurgus aud J. Murphy one each. Jockey Nicol was lined 0 by the starter for disobedience at the post in the first race. M. Harris has wired jockey H. Alex to return to New York and the. boy will leave on Friday. Mr. Buck, who rode in England and on the northern circuit last year as a goutleroan - rider, will have his first mount as a professional in this country tomorrow in the first race on Siltram. Jockeys Foley, Farrow, J. Kelly, L. Kunz and D. Riley arrived here this morning. J. II. Morris was iii the stewards stand today for the first time in over a week. Mr. Morris absence was enforced. He has been suffering from a sore throat. James Meagher will ship his jumper Bonfire to Montreal next week to rest up. W. Selleck and L. A. Bonsack will ship their horses also. In all about three carloads of horses will leave here for Blue Bonnets next week. Edward Mauley today purchased Coblcsklll from D. Schwartz for 00.
