Roseben dashed quickly into the lead and won all the- way never seriously menaced or even fully extended. Smoker, oft Hying, was always in nearest pursuit of the winner and "ran a remarkably game second in a dazzling performance. Dreamer, from a good start, ran forwardly in the early miming and finished well llirongh the stretch. Barbary Belle, away poorly, closed up steadily into a fast going fourth in a sur Mi-islngly good nice. Rapid Water got away badly on the inside and, after lieing seemingly outpaced for the first half, came within sensational and belated stretch sprint. Pcnarris, never dangerous,- finished going Well, but securely pocketed, wants a longer Taee and is very good. Halifax quit badly after a good half -milt pursuit Of the winner. Voorbees. shullled back in the first quarter, closed a gap in the last half. Won handily; second and third driving. Essex II., always in a good forward position, fenced skillfully and, after being reserved for a final effort, drew out witli a rush on the Hat and won going away. Caller forced the running for the first mile and then dropped right behind the pacemaker during the second mile, moved up in the last half and appear-d like the winner, but tired finally after a grand race. Dr. Keith trailed for two miles, then closed an immense gap to the finish and was a fast going third. Kernel, evidently a stayer and at a disadvantage; from Hie slow early pace, was under the whip through the last mile and gaining rapidly at the end. Garrett made the running and failed to stay after excessive early use. Guardian made tip ground In the last mile. Jimmy Lane quit badly in the last half and bled. Lancastrian forced or set the pace throughout, came away in the stretch into a slight winning lead and gamely held sway to the end. Killer maintained close and iersisteiit pursuit of the pacemaker from the start, but went wide on the last turn, losing enough ground to cost him the nice, then came again with a fast challenge and just failed to get up. Smiling Tom, nearly left and inadequately ridden, .closed mi immense gap, but was forced to go wide on the far turn and failed to get up in a cyclonic rush. Maxnar was a prominent contender to the last sixteenth, but tired finally from injudicious early use. Reidmoor- beat the barrier and wits forced to make the pace or be surrounded and shullled back. This happened him finally on the backstretch and, being crowded out and forced to pull up sharply, he could never get up afterwards. Flimnap steadily improved his position in the last six furlongs. Fond Heart was always a prominent contende.r and finished well, but waS not quite good enough.
