"BROADWAY ALEX" SMITH UNDER BAN Saratoga, N. Y., August S. "I.roadway Alex" Smith, a famous ball player, formerly a catcher for the New York Club, was warned off the Saratoga race course today. The local stewards took this action only after a thorough investigation, which revealed that Smith had been guilty of tampering witli jockeys that have been riding on metropolitan tracks.
