REES WILL NOT PRESIDE AT YONKERS Vila May Accept the Position Otherwise Ready for Opening Saturday. New York, August 8. The Empire City plant, witli the exception of clearing away tlie litter left by the workmen making -the improvements, is rf-ady for the racing which will begin Saturday. There are 310 horses at the track and ninety-three others are expected to arrive from Ituflalo during tlie next twenty-four hours. It is said about 350 are quartered at Morris lark. It is expected that 100 fielders will be on the line tlie opening day and seventy-five layers are slated to operate in tlie big ring, says ring manager Arthur Elrod. Captain J. II. Rccs was at the course this afternoon and had a conference witli .Tames I.utler and Manager Winn. After the chat Mr. Winn stated that Mr. I Sees had announced that he could not serve as presiding judge. It is thought Joseph Vila will fill the position. Carthage will be a starter in the opening race Saturday and L. Williams will ride him.
