CHARLES EDWARDS BAD RACE. Saratoga, N. Y., August 1!. Tlie critics are still at a loss to account for Charles Edwards bad race Saturday, and say that the colt was either not himself or he could not extend himself in the cuppy going that prevailed. He was kicked by Nealon while walking in the shed Saturday morning and this may have affected his running. The necessity of starting him in bar plates might have brought about his defeat. It would he taking a great risk to run the Golden Garter colt without bar plates, because of the bad condition of his feet, aud his owner and trainer were evidently deceived in the real condition of the track, which was utterly unsuitud to a horse so equipped.
