RECORD-BREAKING LIST OF ENTRIES. Torontos Autumn Stakes Attract More and Better Horses Than Usual. Toronto, Out., August 19. The stakes to be rnu at tlie coming autumn meeting of the Ontario Jockey Club, commencing Saturday, September 11, have tilled to a record-breaking point for an autumn meeting, and a better class of horses than have yet been seen here in tlie fall of the year will be gathered at Woodbine Park. The Toronto Cup, ,500 added, a handicap at a mile and a quarter, to be run on the opening day, has suillcieut material to furnish half a dozen good races. It has Kings Trophy, now a good hcrse; Malacca, back to his early spring form; Peter Sterliug; the best of Fred Cooks entry; Old Honesty, Nat P.., Cederstrome, Still Alarm and George S. Davis, with the pick of Mr. Seagrams entry, which might prove to lie Main Chance, to light the Huffalo Derby over agaiu witii Ellicott and cross swords witii Charley Gilbert, the winner of tlie Canadian Derby at Fort Erie. The Epsom Handicap, a six furlongs stake for all ages, has an entry of forty-seven to choose from and with such fast ones as Malacca, Pantoutle, Pretension, Charlie Eastman, Merry England, Purslane and Denhaui, a smart contest may be looked for. The Durham Cuo, ,500 added to a challenge cup presented by the Earl of Durham, for Canadian-bred horses, at a mile and three-quarters, baa tilled remarkably well witii a big increase in numbers frm a year ago and will prove one of the most interesting races of the meeting. The two-year-old events the Michaelmas Handicap and Grey Stakes, ,500 added, have the line entry of fifty-two and forty-seven respectively. In the Grey Stakes particularly, is the total a- most praiseworthy one, for the race is at one mile, the furthest distance youngsters are asked to go on the North American continent. The feature, of tlie meeting, however, is tlie Ontario Jockey Club Cup, ,000 added to a piece of plate. This two miles and a quarter event has the splendid number of thirty-one entered. The Woodbine Autumn Steeplechase, two miles and a quarter, lias secured.no less than forty-four nominations. Local interest must light hard to retain the cross-country supremacy against such formidable invaders as are to be found I" the stables of "Mr. Clietland," Mr. James Colt, Mr. Dion Kerr and Mr. Pierre Lorillard.
