INTERESTING SPORT AT FORT ERIE. Four Favorites Win Ladies Day and a Big Crowd at the Track. Huffalo, N. Y., August 19. An ordinary card furnished interesting sport at Fort Erie this afternoon. Four favorites won for the public, but each was forced to stand a sinew-straining drive to lead at the finish. It was ladies day anil the crowd that turned out taxed the capacity of tlie plant. Among tlie visitors at the course was Joseph L. lthinock, who is interested in tlie Empire City meeting. E. Uttcrback shipped part of his stable to Balti-inore this morning to take part in the meeting at Pimlico. James Hogg, tlie apprentice rider under contract to J. L. Hayniau, arrived here from Saratoga this morning and will ride at Fort Erie as a free lance until the opening of tlie meeting at Montreal. Alliert Songer and Hunt Flint, two old-time jockeys, will leave for Quebec tomorrow, where they will ride at tlie meeting which will be given there next week. J. J. McCafferty was a visitor at Fort Erie today. McCafferty has several brood mares he wishes to dispose of, among them tlie dams of New Mown Hay and Commandant. He has a deal on with W. O. Parmer aud Amos Tiirney for their purchase.
