Quadrille drew Hit on the last turn and looked like a winner in the stretch, biit succumbed finally. Sadler displayed amazing early speed, but tired. Cressina, pulled up eailv made up ground rapidly in the middle half and then unexpectedly quit. Batlieaxe linislied well. DollV Spanker was crowded back early and closed a big gap. Listless ran unexpectedly well. Julia Pc.wel, away poorly, went wide, finished with a belated end rush and got a bad ride. Live AVIre closed up fast in the last quarter. Ben Fleet ran prominently for live furlongs and then quit. Heknows was Nway very badly and closed a big gap. Tlfrow 6it tlIs race. Spooner loomed up well on the Inside at the last turn, but weakened tiually. Salvi-liere. an easy horse to place, was reserved patiently In the rear close up for two miles, moved up and made good in the last quarter. Montgomery, In great form today, maintained nearest .pursuit of the abnormally slow pace, wore the favorite down in the closing- sprint, but succumbed readily to the lightly weighted AVinner and was seriously handicapped by the slow pace. Ballot was choked and hnuled about for two miles in an effort to place hlni and when let down in tin; last quarter had nothing left and was easily best. Ironsides, a pronrtunced rater, had no chance whatever witli the ridiculously slow pace and was unequal to sprinting the last quarter with the others. Aster dOr maintained strenuous early pursuit of the fast pace and drew out in tin; last furlong looking all over the winner, but succuinlied finally. Phil Finch, outpaced early, linislied witli his isual fast end rush. Murk Autoio 1L, away llatfooled, was rushed into the lead and, iu an effort to dlsposo of the lightly weighted, but non-staying, attendant, weakened finally and was easily hot. Right Royal Avas badly messed about and never got into serious contention. Leonalla develoiied amazing speed for seven furlongs and then dropped out. Oxford was unlit to race. Druid, much the best, was excessively urged into a long lead at the half and tired iu the final drive. Zipango, a steady plodder, made a game linish and had no mishaps. Ed Ball, nearly left, closed a big gap and likes the Cravesend track. Lady Karma linislied well up and will do to watch. Vendor had no chance witli his ride.
