AVater-speod was much the best of a bad field and, after forward attendance on the pacemakers, drew out when beginning the last half and won off. Grace Cameron, well up from the start, got into nearest, but unavailing, pursuit of the winner in the last half. Longdana, far back in the early running, finished gamely. Willdo, badly outrun for the first mile, also finished well. Kestrel, prominent for a mile, failed to stay. Aestabella showed the most early speed, but quit badly. Explosion established a small lead at the start and maintained it gamely for the entire journey, but finished tiring as if slightly short. Halket broke slowly, but closed up rapidly in the last quarter and Just failed to get up at the end. Sir Cleges was an unexpectedly forward contender throughout and shows steady improvement. Bellwether got away poorly, but steadily improved his position and put up a game finish. Johnnie Blake, prominent for five furlongs, tired as if short. Rialto came fast when too late. Baby AVolf, luckily and forwardly placed in the early running, got up in the last stride of a tremendous stretch drive, is very game and was skillfully ridden. Dreamer, always well up. was suicidally sent along fast on the outside on the turn and finished very fast and gamely, but just failed to get up. Jack Atkin also made the mistake of moving up on the outside of the leader on the last turn, but kept close to the rail and had no mishaps, succumbing finally under a strong finish. Oraculuni broke slowly and improved his position throughout. Bat Masterson got away poorly and closed a considerable gap. Suffrage, crowded to the rear in the early running, ran around on the turns and loomed up midway of the stretch, but quit badly. Kentucky Beau outbroke the others and made the running by a wide gap undisturbed to the stretch, which enabled him to last out the journey. Gretna Green was pinched back at the start and pocketed to the far turn, from where he was sent up on the outside and that lieat him, for he never could quite get up in, a very resolute closing effort. Faust ran prominently for seven furlongs and then gave way, but outstayed Toureune for third place. The latter showed early speed, but failed to stay and was palpably short. St. Valentine, away badly, got into the lead quickly and set the pace to the stretch turn, where he ran hopelessly wide and lost out finally, but was best. Lord Stanhope liuished well and Is about due. J.. F. Donohue had a . rough journey, but steadily improved his position into a close up fifth. Robador showed superior speed for six furlongs, hut bolted on the last turn. Lord Lovatvwas a close contender when he ran out on the stretch turn.
