WORK MOVING RAPIDLY AT ARCADIA. Building and Track Approaching Completion and Entries Flowing In. Los Angeles, Cal., November 7. The work of constructing the grandstand and other buildings at Santa Anita Park is progressing rapidly, and contractor Allen says everything will be in readiness for racing Thanksgiving day unless rainy weather should set in and stop the work. All of the iron needed to finish the grandstand Is already on the ground and being rapidly put in place. All of the track grading has been completed and teams are now bringing in the silt, whicli is tiolng used as a top dressing to the depth of two feet. The wire fence inclosing the grounds Is partly up and goes to point the completion of the plant at an early date on a maghllicent scale. The cement floor of the imddock has been laid and the cement walls are now being erected. The grandstand is so built that every inch of the track can be viewed from any part of the structure. The building of the spur lines by the trolley lines and the Southern Pacific Itailroad is being pushed in leaps and bounds and everything in the way of modern transportation facilities will be installed by these companies for the convenience of the visitor to the track. George Rose has left for San Francisco, where he will interest horsemen at Oakland to make entries to the Santa Anita stakes, which close next Tuesday. Nominations have already been received by the association from A. It. Hamilton, K. F. Carman, Walter Bennett, F. J. Kelly, James Curl, William Walker. C. C. Ricks, W. P. Fine, U. Z. De Arman, J. J. Walsh and J. B. Duun and the Paulsen Stable. Others are being received in every mail. A number of applications for concessions at the track have also been received and the granting of these privileges will be passed upon at a meeting to be held next week.
