Fonso sired many capital racers in his long career in the stud, but it Is questionable if any was better than Rudolph. This good horse held his own worthily against the best of his time, both east and west, and had "the distinction of winning the richest handicap ever given by the Washington Park Club. This was when lie won the 0,000 Columbus Handicap at the Worlds Fair meeting of 1S93. It was a great year in Chicago racing, and the clans of horsedom gathered here from far and near.
