It develops that he was purchased for Mr. Schreiber, and it is the intention of the master of Woodlands Stud to promote a breeding bureau for the State of Missouri, and Lamplighter is to be the first horse to stand for the benefit of the fanners. Before leaving here for St. Louis Mr. Schreiber said: "There will be racing again in Missouri before the expiration of another two years, and you can bet your last dollar on it. The people of St. Louis and the State of Missouri are not opposed to racing, but they are opposed to the management of racing such as it was when the tracks were closed. When the tracks are reopened it will be under a liberal law and by people who will not be looking solely to the commercial side of the sport. No matter who owns the tracks the racing will be . properly governed, and the greater benefit will go to the horsemen and the breeders rather than to a handful of well, I will call them money kings." Mr. Schreiber will leave St. Louis for Los Angeles next Sunday or Monday, and he says the new Arcadia track will surely be ready for opening on December 7.
