NOTES OF THE TURF. J. D. Millin reports the arrival of a chestnut colt by Cunard — Eonic at his Sacramento, Cal., breeding ranch. The sale of the W. OB. Macdonough horses has been postponed until March 24 at Chases sales pavilion. San Francisco. Jockey A. Morgan, who rode with considerable success on the Texas circuit last fall and later at New Orleans, has been indefinitely suspended for rough riding at Tampa. The remains of George Merriweather, who died in a New Orleans hospital, has been shipped to his old: home in Brooklyn. N. Y. He was at one time agent for H. T. Griffin. J. A. Porter, who has been employed by the La-tonia Jockey Club for several years as gatekeeper, died at his home in Covington. Ky., last Tuesday of apoplexy. lie was sixty-eight years old. Horsemen at Oakland are claiming that Ulctma, a bay mare by Salvator — Lightning, ran three and one-half furlongs on the Seattle track several years ago in forty seconds. The time was not, however, regarded as official.
